Victoria & Burke is a premium multi-residential development in Camberwell, expertly delivered by Flux with a focus on precision construction and architectural integrity. Designed by Carr, with landscape design by Jack Merlo, and completed in October 2022, this project demanded careful planning and expert craftsmanship to integrate a complex material palette, precise detailing, and a unique site condition surrounding a 200-year-old blue gum tree.

A key structural and logistical challenge was wrapping the building around the existing gum tree, requiring meticulous coordination of foundations, services, and access to preserve and protect the tree throughout construction. The façade is composed of black metal vertical blades, rough stucco, and expansive glazing, each requiring detailed programming to ensure alignment, durability, and seamless integration. The installation of floor-to-ceiling glazing and stepped balconies presented further technical challenges, demanding strict tolerance controls to achieve the architectural vision while maintaining structural integrity. Internally, the project required high-end joinery installations, precision stonework, and extensive European oak chevron timber flooring, each element delivered to exacting standards. With premium kitchens, integrated sculleries, and secondary living spaces, every residence was constructed to reflect the quality and detail of standalone homes, catering to a downsizing market.
