The Bruce is an eight-storey commercial development in Kensington features robust construction techniques that reflect the precinct’s industrial heritage while meeting modern sustainability standards. The building’s podium, constructed with a mix of concrete and recycled bricks, integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, while the upper levels incorporate setback design to reduce massing and improve solar performance. The use of skewed brick piers along the façade not only provides passive solar protection but also adds architectural articulation and craftsmanship to the structure.

Throughout construction, extensive coordination was required to deliver the façade’s complex elements, including perforated metal fins, deep balconies, and GRC (glass-reinforced concrete) details. A key feature of the project is its 400m² biodiversity green roof, supported by carefully designed in-ground detention tanks and drainage systems. These elements were installed with precision to ensure effective water management and long-term functionality. With gas-neutral systems, extensive landscaping, and natural ventilation features, Bruce Street is a testament to Figurehead’s commitment to delivering sustainable and high-quality builds that align with both environmental and architectural ambitions.
