116 Rokeby by Figurehead Construction is an award-winning 11-storey commercial office in Collingwood, designed by Carr with Arup façade engineering.

Winner of the Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Construction Award and the Australian Institute of Architects Award, it features exposed off-form concrete, a double-skin façade, and Platinum WELL & NABERS sustainability targets.

Completed in March 2024 and a winner of the 2024 Urban Developer Awards Small-Scale Residential (4-20) category, Osprey represents a premium collaboration between Figurehead Group and Wolveridge Architects.

This boutique collection of architectural apartments captures the essence of Peninsula living. Wolveridge Architects, renowned for their expertise in crafting beach homes, have infused Osprey with an abundance of natural light and air, providing a living experience beyond the typical apartment expectations. Zoe Kennedy Foundation

In 2020, Figurehead’s commitment to helping those in need saw us launch a charitable initiative of our own—the Zoe Kennedy Foundation—following the tragic passing of the daughter of our friend and loyal colleague, Figurehead Construction Manager, Lach Kennedy. Zoe suffered an acute asthma attack and was rushed to hospital where she was immediately placed on life-support. Four days later, the Kennedy family was devastated to learn that Zoe would not recover.

In partnership with Asthma Australia, Figurehead established the Zoe Kennedy Foundation. Through grants and PhD Scholarships, the foundation helps fund progressive research into asthma prevention, management and eradication, with a specific focus on the increased risk for teenagers—and in doing so, honours a young life cut short.

We’ve established dedicated focus groups and taskforces that tackle cultural, operational, and strategic challenges. Our Respectful Support & Inclusion (RSI) Group works to ensure every person — from office to sites — feels safe, respected, and empowered to thrive. It’s about creating environments that lead the industry for professionalism and culture. Meanwhile, the Build Better Taskforce exists to do exactly that: build better. From refining systems to improving processes, this team drives continuous improvement through the Build Better Knowledge Hub, helping us share lessons and strengthen our delivery from the ground up.

We also know that innovation must be more than just a buzzword. Our NEXT:AI group explores how emerging technologies and artificial intelligence can be practically applied to improve safety, reduce risk, streamline operations, and create long-term value on and off the tools. Together, these groups reflect Figurehead’s commitment to doing things differently: with integrity, intelligence, and impact.

Sustainability

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing Australia today, and our impact on climate as a construction company is significant. Construction projects are challenging and complex from start to finish, but we recognise the urgency and ongoing requirements for a more sustainable future.

Reconcilliation

Our journey towards cultural awareness and reconciliation is in its early stages but our commitment is ongoing. In July 2022 our leadership team and 116 Rokeby Project team commenced Cultural Awareness training with the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation, traditional owners of the land at Rokeby Street, Collingwood.

In consultation with the Wurundjeri people, Figurehead Group have commissioned Indigenous artists Lowell Hunter and Gerard Black to complete an art piece to be ‘imprinted’ into the concrete of 116 Rokeby’s southern façade.
We are proud to communicate a story of a future of knowledge sharing, family and kinship with the traditional owners.
