The $12M redevelopment of Greville Street’s iconic Station Hotel has transformed this historic former watering hole into a luxurious new residential complex incorporating 41 one-and-two bedroom apartments over five levels, six ground floor retail spaces and a double-level basement car park.
The 120 year-old heritage façade has been meticulously preserved throughout the construction process, giving new life to this Melbourne landmark for decades to come.
Designed to impress investors and young professionals eager to claim their stake in this stylish fashion and entertainment precinct, each apartment features an elegant BontempiCucine kitchen, mirrored splashbacks, timber flooring and polished concrete soffit finishes.
On the strength of our performance during a past collaboration with the Saade Group, (Errol Apartments), Figurehead was awarded this project early on.We were actively involved in all aspects of design and project management, including chairing all project design meetings, as well as designing and engineering the stunning glasswork façade that now stands as a defining feature of the building.
We also worked rigorously to deliver a number of cost-saving alternatives to the client, including in-depth consultations with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade to create feasible fire safety solutions.
Construction commenced on site in September 2013. In order to retain the heritage façade, we engineered an ingenious purpose-built support structure to maintain the integrity of the fragile exterior throughout the construction process. We also successfully completed the complex integration of the new interior into the existing building without damaging the original structure, as well as repairing the age-worn façade, restoring it to its former glory.
“Figurehead have a good broad understanding of the building and construction industry, and they worked tirelessly to assist in achieving our budget goals.
The project’s best interest was always at the forefront of their mind. ”
