The Schindler Head Office is a stylish contemporary warehouse and office complex located close to Port Philip Bay in industrious inner-city Port Melbourne. Constructed from precast panels with a structural steel roof, the $3M development features a 1700m2 clear span warehouse and showroom, 900m2 of open plan office space and grounds spanning a further 1600m2, offering ample onsite parking and complementary landscaping. A stunning glass feature elevator provides added appeal to prospective tenants.
Figurehead secured this project under a complete ‘Design and Construct’ contract following an extensive pre-selection process. We were appointed as preferred builder based on the strength of our detailed and competitive tender submission, then value-engineered a number of elements of the project plan to align with the client’s specified budget and delivery requirements. The comprehensive nature of this contract meant we were able to coordinate and oversee all aspects of the design development and construction management.
We commenced construction on the 48 Wirraway Drive project in December 2013 and were immediately faced with a number of challenges. Ground conditions on site were problematic, with sand, silt and water deposits requiring careful excavation. Further excavation was then required to access and connect authority points that were buried 4m below ground.
