An expansive 6000m2 warehouse facility and office space designed for Rondo, one of the leading suppliers of wall and ceiling systems to the construction industries both here in Australia and abroad in New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Ideally located in the thriving industrial precinct of Dandenong South, the warehouse features a steel portal frame design with fibre reinforced concrete slab. The structure incorporates a unique 40m 1200UB steel beam, allowing increased clear spans for racking.

As this project was Figurehead’s first collaboration with highly regarded developer, Goodman, we underwent a rigorous prequalification process before being invited to submit a tender for the $4.4m ‘Design and Construct’ contract. Happily winning the project we then managed every aspect of the design, development, planning and construction from design documentation (initially just a few rough sketches) through to handover, ultimately achieving an innovative and cost-effective finished product that satisfied the developer’s high expectations.

Construction on the Rondo Warehouse commenced in February 2016 and was soon beset by one of the wettest winters Melbourne has seen in recent years. The rain caused considerable delays to the construction program, forcing us to perform extensive restorative groundworks before construction could continue. Despite these significant hurdles we were able to handover several sections of the project ahead of schedule, allowing Rondo to get a head start on their fit out and racking and move in weeks before originally anticipated.
