Incorporating 15 luxury residences opposite the lush manicured greenery of Malvern’s iconic Central Park, the Paxton Apartments are a triumph of thoughtful and beautiful designer living located in one of Melbourne’s most desirable suburbs. Elegant interiors feature light and spacious indoor/outdoor living, inviting neutral palettes and premium luxury finishes including timber floors; timber veneer joinery; stone bench tops and splashbacks, and feature lighting.
The $6.9M development is constructed over three above-ground levels comprising post-tensioned concrete slabs, precast and metal stud lightweight walls and a pitched roof with terracotta tiling. Below ground, a single level basement features concrete piles, shotcrete walls and ground anchors.
Figurehead was engaged early in the design development process under an Early Contract Involvement Agreement (ECI) and so were extensively involved in the management and coordination of the design development. This included coordinating a number of significant last-minute purchaser amendments to the plans, most notably the amalgamation of eight individual apartments into four spectacular double-sized residences. Ensuring the documentation was amended to standard in a very short time was a huge undertaking for our team and could potentially have led to ongoing issues throughout the project, however by maintaining close and open communication with the client and rigorous auditing procedures we successfully incorporated all the requested amendments without any major interruptions to the construction program.
Non-standardised apartment designs, architectural pitched ceilings, angled windows, multiple courtyards at ground level and limited site access also presented some unique challenges to our program, however nothing our expert team couldn’t overcome.
The Paxton Apartments were handed over on schedule in November 2017 and we are looking forward to collaborating again with this client for an upcoming Flux project.
