Representing Figurehead’s first ever foray into the dual role of both builder and developer, Lago 184 is a triumph of intelligent and complementary design and construction in one of Melbourne’s fastest growing residential precincts.

Consisting 18 one and two-bedroom apartments over three levels and a ground floor car park, the complex is built on a single level suspended concrete slab below three floors of lightweight composite steel and timber construction materials.

The dramatically sweeping curved façade incorporates a Corten-like Vitracore clad balustrade, creating a strikingly rustic appeal that blends beautifully with the surrounding natural landscape.

Interiors feature an inviting and adaptable neutral palette, premium 2-pac joinery and timber veneer panelling. A lightweight and non-combustible Promat flooring system was implemented providing superior acoustics and improved fire rating.

As both developer and builder of the Lago 184 apartments, we were able to apply our wealth of specialised skills and industry insights to the entire project design, construction and delivery process. The Figurehead team managed every step of the project from inception to implementation, ensuring a viable finished product that attains our high standards of quality and liveability.

In addition to the careful and considered design, elements of the construction required expert attention and skill – namely the realisation of the stunning timber facade, the ‘layer cake’ building design and the transfer of loads through steel and the appropriate fire rating treatments for the lightweight building materials. Our experienced team masterfully managed these challenges and the project was successfully completed in October 2016.
