This vibrant residential complex located in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after suburbs features 36 apartments across three levels, a ground floor retail space and a basement-level car park. Set against a leafy backdrop of municipal parks and gardens, the project required a design that would harmonise with the natural environment, while offering the everyday luxury and ease of lifestyle that would satisfy even the most discerning owner-occupier.
ACDEV nominated Figurehead as the preferred builder soon after the land was acquired, so we had the unique advantage of being able to collaborate with them at every stage of the design development and pre-construction planning.
Our specialised industry knowledge allowed us to present a number of innovative low-cost construction solutions, utilising alternative materials and specified retention design to save the developer time and money while still upholding our superlative standards of quality and liveability.
Thorough and transparent cost planning was conducted in consultation with our trusted network of subcontractors, eliminating the possibility of costly variations and ensuring the feasibility of the project was maintained at all stages of construction.
We began construction on site in November 2011, where we discovered contamination in both the ground water and soil. We worked quickly to excavate the soil and install an in-ground filtration system to filter and monitor the quality of the ground water during construction. We also installed a special membrane at ground level to ensure vapour from the contaminated soil did not affect residents.
“They have a detailed and thorough approach to the construction process and, in my opinion have done an outstanding job of the construction of Iris.”
