Annual Golf Tournament
The weather gods were smiling on a sunny September morning as a group of keen Figurehead golfers gathered at the Latrobe Golf Club for a cheeky 18 holes of friendly competition. Kitted out in a selection of haphazard (though technically ‘appropriate’) golfing attire, the group hit the green to test their mettle and their nine irons, following plenty of hours of dedicated swing practice.
The group paired off for an Ambrose competition (in which an overall group handicap is played), with the early withdrawal of Joe Allman due to a persistent shoulder injury proving disappointing for Joe but a great result for the group, who scored their own personal drinks cart butler!
Highlights of the day included Andy P scoring nearest to the pin on par three, as well as a dramatic and hotly contested battle for the longest drive. Lachlan Kennedy appeared poised to take out this coveted title before Dylan Mercer snatched the victory with a mighty swing that saw his ball land just short of Lachlan’s before rolling forward for the win!
After such an exciting end to the contest the group packed up their gear and headed off to the Skinny Dog to meet up with the rest of the Figurehead team for a well-earned lunch. Scores were tallied and, after an anxious wait, overall victory for the day was awarded to Guy de Vos and Garrick Gallard.
Congratulations to Guy and Garrick, who will enjoy exclusive bragging rights…until the next Figurehead sports event!
